School Goal:
The main goals of the Graduate Summer School on
General Relativistic Hydrodynamics are
- To familiarize students with state-of-the-art
computational techniques commonly used in Computational Astrophysics
and Relativity.
- To expose students to recent developments in a range of fields in
Astrophysics and Cosmology where large scale modeling and simulation are
important.
Students attending the school are expected to have completed basic graduate
courses, including introductory courses in general relativity and hydrodynamics,
and should have some experience with finite difference methods to solve
PDEs. While the majority of the participants will be graduate students, applications
from postdoctoral scholars and other more senior researchers will be also
considered. The School will provide accommodations and per diem for accepted participants.
The main focus of the Graduate Summer School will be a set of intensive
short courses, each offered by a world leader in the corresponding discipline.
In addition, students will be involved in laboratory work to develop a numerical
code for the simulation of relativistic axi-symmetric collapse.
